Each pearl is a thin skin around blueberry syrup, with blueberry flavouring behind it. Two colours go into it, a red and a blue, which is why the pearls come out a deep purple rather than red. It is sweet first, with a little sharpness from the malic acid, and it sits well in a vanilla milk tea, a classic milk tea or over an iced oolong.

Blueberry comes in two sizes. The 100g pot is the one to buy if you have not tasted it. This 1.6kg tub is for a counter that serves it daily, or a household that will finish it, because opened popping boba lives in the fridge and does not keep long.
