The cocktail slushy bubble tea kit makes nine alcohol-free mocktail slush drinks, three each from mango, strawberry and pineapple syrup, every one topped with a different popping boba. Three reusable squishy freezer cups and bamboo straws are in the box, so there is nothing else to buy. No blender, no alcohol.

The pairings are the point. Mango syrup, made with mango juice, gets passion fruit pearls. Strawberry syrup, made with strawberry pulp, gets strawberry pearls. Pineapple syrup gets lychee pearls, the floral one. Two flavours in a cup is the difference between this and the Bobaslush kit, where each syrup is matched to a pearl of the same flavour.

Nobody has to sit a round out: there is no alcohol in the box and nothing to add but cold water. The Iced Coffee kit is the coffee version of the same format, with tapioca pearls as well as popping boba. All three slush kits make nine drinks in the cups supplied, which is what makes them a gift that works on the day it is opened.

How to use

Add syrup and about 270ml of cold water to the squishy cup and freeze for 12 to 20 hours until solid. Squeeze to break the ice into a slush, top with the popping boba paired with that syrup, and serve with a wide bamboo straw.

May also contain traces of Mango and Kiwi (produced on shared equipment). Passion fruit popping boba: May contain traces of Mango, Kiwi and Coconut (produced on shared equipment). Strawberry syrup, pineapple syrup and strawberry popping boba: none of the 14 declared allergens. E102, E110, E129: may have an adverse effect on activity and attention in children.

Storage

Store all kit components in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Check individual packaging for best-before dates. Popping boba should be refrigerated after opening and consumed within 5 days.
